Wild Birds on BBC

This special bird , called the lyre bird, amazingly mimics the calls of other birds, along with chainsaws, electronic devices, and even camera shutters.  Here, David Attenborough presents the lyre bird in this video clip from The Life of Birds.  This is one impressive bird, able to make so many various sounds and mimic not only other birds, but also electronics, so convincingly.  The lyre bird is often overlooked or little known by bird enthusiasts. The lyrebird is incredible in its amazing capablility of imitating almost any sound it hears, from a mill whistle to car engines and alarms, fire alarms, shots from rifles, cats meowing, dogs barking, babies crying, and even the adult human voice.  Who wouldn’t enjoy being able to see a bird of such talent and beauty?  And what a surprise to learn of its existence when one never even knew about it.  Enjoy this amazing video about a bird you may not have known about before today, and next time you are in one of their “neighborhoods,” you may hear one performing its mimicry just for you.
