This special bird , called the lyre bird, amazingly mimics the calls of other birds, along with chainsaws, electronic devices, and even camera shutters.  Here, David Attenborough presents the lyre bird in this video clip from The Life of Birds.  This is one impressive bird, able to make so many various sounds and mimic not only other birds, but also electronics, so convincingly.  The lyre bird is often overlooked or little known by bird enthusiasts.

If you play Angry Birds (and we know you do!) then you’ll love this infographic explaining which of the birds is the most likable in the bunch.  In Angry Birds, you are in charge of your own flock of multi-colored birds whose job is to retrieve eggs that were egg-knapped by a group of awful green pigs. As levels progress, the pigs are sheltered by increasingly complicated structures made of several materials like wood, ice and rock.  By flinging the birds at the enemy, you’re trying to eliminate all the pigs in each level. Players use a slingshot to launch the birds hoping to hit the pigs directly or critically damage the structures, causing them to collapse and wipe out the pigs. 

Caring for Baby Birds

After a violent storm with raging winds swept through our area, my husband, while walking our two dogs, came across to tiny birds that had been blown out of their nest it seemed.  One looked very lethargic while the other was moving just a bit.  They were so small that they could not walk or hop around, and they still had very few feathers.  We decided it would be best to just let nature run its course and see what would happen.  After about three hours, the baby birds were still there in our backyard with no mother bird around.  Neither of us are familiar with caring for birds at all, so we definitely did not…
